Along with the Emmanuel Children’s home we are running a Short Stay Home for the welfare of women and girls. We started this with 25 abandoned and destitute women between the age group of 15 to 35 from different parts of Kerala. The main aim to provide home for women and girls, with a view to protect and rehabilitate those women and girls who are facing social, economic and emotional problems due to family problems, mental strains, social ostracism, exploitation or other causes or are being forced into prostitution, widows, persecuted women and destitute women who had thrown out of from their families. We are providing shelter to many women who have no one to protect and are living in insecure circumstances and who were rescued from the verge of committing suicide.
They require help and guidance to regain confidence in them to meet the situations and to acquire skills to become self-reliant and to develop, relationships with people that could help in the reestablishment of their status in society. Institutional services such as counseling and guidance, medical and psychiatric check-up and treatment, facilities of development of skills could prove useful for their development. We are trying to help the women to rehabilitate themselves within a short period of time. We help our members to get training in tailoring and embroidery and computer studies. We need about 100 $ (Rs. 4000) for buying a sewing machine and about 500 $ (Rs. 20,000) for buying a computer.
We are also planning to establish a Small scale industry to provide job to our residents in short stay home. All these plans require a huge investment. A small scale industry can provide a job to other women residing in nearby places. When a woman becomes independent it will surely improve the standard of living of that family. We request for your help, support and prayer. Your support can provide a new life to destitute and desperate women. Help us to help these distracted women in our short stay home. God will bless you abundantly.
